Introducing
Amy Dalwood-Fairbanks

BA Hons, PGCE, Dip.HE, RTTP, Dip.Hyp (Paediatric)

As a mother of two autistic children, I know firsthand the challenges of navigating a world that often doesn’t accommodate neurodivergent traits. My children have struggled in school, with overwhelm, and with the relentless demands of everyday life. Like many parents of neurodivergent children, I’ve had to let go of preconceived ideas about parenting and embrace a more bespoke, creative approach that truly meets the unique needs of my children. With 15 years of experience in education and youth work, including 8 years as a primary school teacher, I bring a deep understanding of childhood development and the complexities of supporting neurodivergent children. As a specialist paediatric hypnotherapist, I combine my professional expertise with years of learning about autism to help families like mine feel calmer, more connected, and more content.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my children—playing board games, reading together, or watching Bake Off and The Great Pottery Throw Down. I enjoy being outdoors and often head out to the local park or along the riverside with our energetic cockerpoo, Daisy. I’m also a creative soul at heart—I love painting with acrylics, sketching in pen and pencil, and have recently discovered Gelli printing and diamond painting. When I get a quiet moment, you’ll usually find me curled up with my three cats, reading a good book (often about neurodiversity), or watching a gripping crime drama on TV.

Our Ethos

At Magic Minds, we do not set out to cure or remove the traits of neurodivergent conditions, such as autism and ADHD. We understand that such conditions are a neurological type; the way a person's brain is intrinsically wired.A neurotypical person (a person who is not autistic/ADHD...) might find a thinking process comes quickly and innately to them whereas a neurodivergent person, because of their different wiring, has to find a different way of thinking and processing things. So, in a society which is set up for neurotypical people, and a society which is predominantly "ableist", where a "one size fits all" approach pervades, hypnotherapy can help neurodivergent people to strengthen their existing thought processes and help them to take their place in the world in their own authentic way.
